Welcome to The NV1, our monthly update for curious minds. This month we explore the effects of wake on shoreline erosion, and how to avoid it, discuss how an America’s Cup yacht designer helped influence the NV1, and debate which ENVGO crew member foiled best!
This week we’re discussing how to enjoy high-performance boating experiences, without pesky wake damage. We’ll also share fun updates from our crew sailing day and unveil cool facts about America’s Cup yacht design that will have you reaching for your NV1.
Let’s dive in.
Did you know significant shoreline erosion can be attributed to boat wake in lakeside communities? We think it's time that changed.
Wake waves often exceed those generated by natural wind-driven waves. In addition to interrupting the lake's tranquility, wake can significantly impact vital vegetation along the shoreline which stabilizes soil and helps enhance the safety of shoreside banks.
By swapping noisy, wake-inducing boats for the high-performance hydrofoiling technology of the ENVGO NV1, boaters can experience the thrill of high-performance boating, with less noise and wake.
Why leave a trail of waves when you can leave a legacy?
Elevate your boating, not the waves.
Smooth sailing isn't just a phrase anymore >
This might not come as a surprise – but our team likes to foil during their downtime. In fact, we like foiling all the time.
So we recently threw a sailing party where the ENVGO crew got to put their foil board skills to the test. (This E-Foil board was designed by MSLR E-Foils of Kelowna - another Canadian innovator that is electrifying the recreational marine industry!)
Meet the team behind the design and build of our electric hydrofoiling boat, the ENVGO NV1.
America’s Cup AC75s might look a little space-age, but they’re jaw-droppingly impressive when it comes to performance. 2024 is showcasing arguably the most radical boats the competition has ever seen. But if we ignore the “look” of these boats for a second, what is it that really makes them different?
From ‘Cyclor’ (cyclist) generated power to righting moment changes that impact stability and balance, and unimaginable speeds, there’s a lot to make these AC75s stand above the rest.
Did you know yacht designer Steve Killing provided valuable assistance with the design of our hydrofoiling ENVGO NV1?
Steve was also selected as a member of the 30-strong design team for New Zealand’s challenge for the 2013 America’s Cup. His responsibilities at Emirates Team New Zealand included hull development and fairing, heat-shrink wing skin research, wing tab geometry, and articulation, and aft crossbeam fairing.

We recently announced the completion of fabrication work on our ENVGO NV1 prototype hull. The team will now focus on the integration of the drivetrain, hydrofoils, and flight control systems.
The NV1 hull is extremely strong and lightweight, with the prototype build closely matching the precision designs created by our world-class yacht designers and engineers.
We're putting it through in-water testing this fall, to ensure we deliver the ultimate flight experience to the first NV1 owners.

We’ve been overwhelmed with the support of early adopters and innovators following the story of the prototype build of the ENVGO NV1.
Thank you to everyone for being a part of our journey and sharing our vision for a more sustainable boating future that doesn’t sacrifice performance.
See you next time.
Team ENVGO.
